PROBLEM:

The down deck of the tank had been subjected to severe corrosion leading to drips leak of oil. This is very hazardous to plant operation and seize production.

SUBSTRATE:

Carbon steel

APPLICATION METHOD:

This application was carried out in accordance to Belzona Know How System leaflets VPF-1. Surface was blasted using Bristle Blaster (Blasting without Grit) to remove existing paint to attain surficial roughness Sa 2.5. Belzona 1212 was applied to seal the leak by cold bonding. Belzona 1212 was re-applied when the first coat reaches its pre-curing time. This application was done overnight because client needed a long-term solution.

FACTS:

The oil tank was brought back in service without any delays, saving the client millions of cedis. Also Belzona 1212 was chosen and applied because of the excellent surface tolerant and fast curing properties.
