CUSTOMER LOCATION

LPG Plant, Atuabo, Ghana

PROBLEM:

An existing weighbridge constructed on a flat ground to determine the amount of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) a truck carries after it been loaded. The site is just some few meters away from the sea and corrosion was the client major problem. The breeze keeps corroding the weighbridge which leads to truck struggle to move off the bridge, also existing layer peels off due to this act. Knowing the accurate weight of the trucks was a challenge for the client. Vehicles finds difficult and challenge when mechanical break is applied because of the wear on the substrate. Solution was urgently needed from client.

SUBSTRATE:

Carbon steel checker plate

APPLICATION METHOD:

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know How System Leaflet FPA-3 for protecting floors and drains against chemical attack.

Belzona 1111 was applied to rebuild the lost metal after surface was blasted with Bristle Blaster (Blasting without Grits.)

Belzona 5231 was then applied as heavy-duty protective coating and protect against further corrosion.

FACTS:

According to the information’s gathered during the visual inspection, Belzona 1111 Super metal paste grade was selected to rebuild the lost metal and can resists a wide range of chemicals. Also, Belzona 1111 has the excellent properties in bonding to metallic surfaces.
